Most of you might have heard about Google Voice which provides great free VOIP service within USA. However, Google Voice is not free for people outside USA. When you try to visit Google Voice home page from anywhere but USA, it says that Google Voice is not available in your country. Today, we bring you a hack that will let you use Google Voice to send and receive free SMS anywhere in the world.

Requirements:

• A smart Phone (iPhone, Blackberry or other smart phones)
• Internet connection
• Two Google Voice Accounts

Steps

If you have a smart phone you can download the google voice application for it. If Google does not have an application for your device you can still use web version which you can access from your phone’s web browser.

You will need a Google voice Account . If you are outside USA you can use a proxy such as hidelinkonline to create Google Voice account. Remember that you will need one account for each person that you want to send (or receive) SMS to (from). Google Voice comes with a USA phone number that you have the option to choose from host of numbers.

Once you have the accounts set up you can login to your phone using this information. The good thing is that this application works on GPRS too. Moreover, you can use GPRS without the special data plan for iPhone.

After you have logged into your application successfully, you can send SMS to any number in USA and Canada. Since all your friends now have a Google Voice Number you can sms them and they can reply back on your Google voice number. Your friends or partners need not be within the same country. They can be anywhere in the world. This is totally free SMS service for you.

Today we bring you a hack to make free STD calls. We are exploiting a loophole in Rediff’s ad service. You can search for an ad on Rediff local ads and call the advertiser through Rediff. Rediff will call you first and then connect you with the advertiser of that ad. In this hack you basically need to post one ad, with your phone number. After that, every time you have to call a friend, you can search for that ad and pretend to be your friend. you want to call. Rediff will thus, call you as the advertiser and it will call your friend whose number you provided. Confused? Let us explain it step by step.

1) Go to http://localads.rediff.com

2) Click on Post ad (free) button.

3) Fill out the form and enter your Mobile number. Here, you should advertise something which is easier to search.

4) Post your ad and and wait for some time. Usually it takes around 40-45 minutes at max.

5) Search your ad and provide your friend’s number as the number to be connected with advertiser of that ad (you).

That is it. You made a free STD call. The catch is that one call lasts for only 1:30 minutes. Additionally, there is a limit of calls made per ad per week. However, they let you post multiple ads with same mobile number. That is you can do away with this weekly limit easily.

These days VOIP providers are cutting their prices for calls from USA and similarly from other countries to India. However, there are many VOIP providers who let you make free calls within USA. Hold on! does that mean you can make free calls to USA using a pc with internet over VOIP? The answer is yes!!  There are a bunch of VOIP providers that give you free calls to USA. The first one in my list and the one we are going to talk about is Mediaringtalk: http://www.mediaringtalk.com

You need to register with them once and you can start making free calls to USA. However, you can chat for only 10 minutes per call. No one stops you from calling again though. Fair enough? Keep in mind that if you have balance in your mediaringtalk account and you talk more than 10 minutes, let us say 12 minutes you will be charged for those 2 minutes. However, there charges are fair and cheap. Mediaringtalk is a great VOIP provider even if you want to make calls to India. It costs you just 1.7 cents which is decent, but if I remember correctly it used to be 1.4 cents earlier. Our readers in India can use some math to find out that if you use mediaringtalk for STD calls it will cost you 85 paisa per minute. Still cheaper than many cell phone providers.

Other countries which are included in their free call offer are: Australia, China, Singapore, UK, Canada, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

1) Dial 1-800-373-3411 (1-800-FREE-411),

2) When the automated operator greets you (probably after an ad) you need to say “Free Call”. You will, then, be connected to the server.

3) Enter (key in) your destination number in “country code + destination number” format. For example 9122********* could connect you to someone in Mumbai.
