		<description>Really an easy way to get around both of the problems that Lance mentioned would be to just pop in your favorite Linux distro&#039;s Live CD and use that to delete the file.  No processes will be attached to the file, and no permissions will keep the file from being deleted.</description>

There are only 2 reasons (to my knowledge) for a file to be &quot;un-delete-able&quot;. Either it is corrupted (and therefore unreadable) or it is in a running process (attached to a system process or as a standalone process).

For the former, it might be advisable to use the AUTOEXEC.BAT deletion method, or perhaps download a deleter for such files. For the latter, it might be better to terminate the process in question instead of explorer. Multiple methods can be employed to find out what&#039;s the process in question - Enabler, ProcessExplorer, etc.
